Ever wondered if Inositol supplements maybe helpful? It’s all covered in today’s episode.
Inositol, what is it and why dietitians rate it for managing PCOS.
Welcome back to IT’S NOT YOU, IT’S PCOS – the podcast dedicated to helping you navigate the complexities of PCOS with your hosts, Lora and Nick, accredited dietitians specializing in nutrition for PCOS and fertility.
In this episode, we dive deep into the world of inositol. Inositol's are sugar alcohols belonging to the vitamin B complex group, with nine variants, but the most significant for PCOS are myoinositol and D-chiro-inositol. They can positively influence menstrual cycle regularity, carbohydrate metabolism, and symptoms of hyperandrogenism.
By improving insulin sensitivity, inositol's can lead to better management of hormonal, metabolic, and oxidative abnormalities associated with PCOS. This means potential improvements in ovulation, facial hair, fertility rates, mood, weight management, and acne. Additionally, inositol's have been linked to decreased rates of gestational diabetes in women with PCOS.
Join us as we explore the science and benefits of inositol's, providing you with practical insights to enhance your metabolic and reproductive health. Don't forget to leave us a 5-star review if you enjoyed this episode, and share your thoughts and questions through the link in the show notes.
Remember, it’s not you, it’s PCOS.
